The reason your house is FULL of crap you dont need.

The reason your house is FULL of crap you dont need.

Edward Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud. The father of Public Relations. He decided to use what he saw in wartimes with propoganda and combine it with the pyscho-analyst studies of his uncle-& use it to manipulate the unconscious minds of the masses (click here).

George Hill, the then-president of the National Tobacco Organization, was one of his first clients. He came to Bernays to help him break the taboo women had against smoking. Wait til you see how he pulled it off. The parrallels today are STAGGERING… at 30:30 he’s going to describe EXACTLY what Barack Obama just did to win the election!

On a side note, while Bernays was now rich and powerful, Sigmund Freud was writhing in the throes of poverty… That was when Bernays began to send his uncle money and help him publish and of course MARKET his books and ideas… Knowledge is power… enjoy.

Already the G.O.A.T... next stop: The Billy..

Forbes magazine just did their (annual, lately) spread on the “Bling Kings” of Hip-Hop &while JayZ tops it as usual, there are a few least there were for me- i thought Swizz Beats for instance had a pretty quiet year… well apparently for him ‘quiet’ still gets him tied for #14 on the list. (clickHere) Do the rest of these numbers sound right to you? Who’s missing? How bout the fact this money is getting made without beef in hiphop?

There was some rumour the Live nation deal fell thru…Dont listen to rumours. At any rate- we ALL need to wish em well because this represents yet another door he’s helping us all by knocking down… Here’s a decent interview with DJ Semtex over in the UK…I love how he breaks down his management style.

How MJ became a brand

100+million copies sold (and counting...)

100+million copies sold (and counting...)

Branding is a really huge buzzword in the marketplace right now. Though its been the same for ages, it seems that with the rise of technology lately all anyone cares about is their personal brand. Maybe it has to do with the worldwide realization that: no matter WHAT business you’re in, you are in the business of sales…

Add to that the old adage of Mr Jeffrey Gitomer “People hate to be sold, but they LOVE to buy” and it becomes even further apparent that having a strong personal ‘brand’ is of paramount importance.
How do you create a brand that makes others want to talk about YOU when they’re at work or play?

Mktg guru John Quelch has some ideas… Are there any missing to you?

Start early. Michael began entertaining at the age of four. His career as the uniquely young lead singer in The Jackson Five began with the Motown label at the age of 10. National recognition came with his appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

Let go. Jackson went solo in 1972 at the age of 13. As with Diana Ross and the Supremes, there came a point where the group constrained rather than aided the further development of his talent.

Break out. Jackson was a multidimensional entertainer. His expert dancing could be showcased via the new medium of music videos. MTV and Jackson rose in tandem when MTV premiered the Jackson video “Thriller” in 1982 from the album of the same name. The album went on to sell over 100 million copies.

MJ worth $100million MORE than he owed?

Best to ever do it.....

Best to ever do it.....

My fave quote from the following article…. “the singer bought the catalog in 1985 for $47.5 million. In the early 2000s, he borrowed $300 million against the catalog.” (these publishin co investments means MJ’s estate controls everything from Destiny’s Child songs to Ray Charles to yeeess..Elvis…

my second references what they call his “legendary” impulse buying habit.. I mean what? A man cant buy himself a full circus? What’s the problem?

Michael Jackson- comPLETELY underestimated here

10 tips on Time Management

Posted in Business, For Entreprenuers Only, How-to-be-Fly with tags , , on July 2, 2009 by HaZiQ aLi
You MAKE your luck.

You MAKE your luck.

My new (old) goal is to begin handling my time management like the big boys do. People like The Black Eye Peas have the next three years of their life planned out- i KNOW i (&you) can take it at least a week at a time.. I found this article by a lady named Jean Hanson- i hope u like it…

Does it seem like everyone and everything is vying for your attention all at once? It can be hard for solo entrepreneurs to know what to do first, let alone try to find the time to get caught up. Here are some time management tips that will help you to stay on top of it all:

1. Put your to-do list in writing and prioritize it. Studies show that people who write their lists down are 90% more likely to complete their list than those who do not.

2. Be realistic about how long it takes to get things done. Block out a reasonable amount of time on your planner, especially if it’s an appointment where there’s driving time to consider.

3. Schedule time with yourself, without interruptions. If that means closing your office door and letting your voicemail take phone messages, then that’s what you need to do. Do this at your most productive time of the day. Are you a morning person? Start your day out with some quiet time by yourself, when you’re the most productive and focused.

Quincy Jones: Heartless or Real?

Posted in Black Culture, Pop Culture with tags , on July 2, 2009 by HaZiQ aLi
MJ, Quincy, and some dude i cant remember...

MJ, Quincy, and some dude i cant remember...

We all know Quincy Jones. He produced pretty much every record you REally know from the King of POP (rip). I mean he not only did “Thriller”, he did “We Are The World” which probably sold like 70million (& no they did NOT give the publishing checks to AfriCare or USaid LMAO) before it was done..

He’s being called irreverent, heartless, callous, unfeeling and every other adjective under the sun except ‘hurt’.
I wholeheartedly disagree that he was being mean. I guess i can just tell the difference (like i said yesterday lol) between a yes-man and a true friend who’s doesnt need him for anything, isnt jealous of him, doesnt secretly want him to fail, and is in fact disgusted with the level his friend allowed himself to sink to. Plus, to be honest, last time i met Mr Jones he seemed old enough to not give a warm muthaf%$# what u may think..

What do you think though? Click here-for one helluva interview- was this hate or love?

Here’s Mike & Lionel Richie accepting that “We Are The World” acclaim… Plus Mike CRUSHIN the Grammy stage…
